The Block 2019 - Rooftop week

Did you know that Outdure supplied the only suitable solution for both the outdoor courtyards and the rooftops on The Block this year?

The contestants got creative with their rooftop spaces integrating the high non-slip rate porcelain tiles with the beautiful ResortDeck composite decking boards. The Stone Inspire tile range has a classic, organic finish and the Mineral range has a more modern, minimal aesthetic. As with the courtyards, QwickBuild® was used as the sub-structure for all the rooftop decks. Outdure’s QwickBuild® framing system is perfect to ensure a seamless indoor/outdoor flow and allows different surfaces to create your perfect outdoor space.

Here are the top tips for how each house achieved the rooftop look they were after using Outdure.

HOUSE 1 – MITCH & MARK

Mitch & Mark achieved a fun and vibrant look by opting for Mineral tiles in Oasis to form the relaxed dining space for those Saturday afternoon gatherings and ResortDeck Seasalt decking boards for the connecting walkway. Despite House 1’s budget dramas and lack of trades this week, Mitch & Mark completed the rooftop in time, made possible with QwickBuild as the structural system for the tiles and decking boards to simply clip into. The same tiles on Outdure’s system were used for their alfresco courtyard – the winning space selected for the Domain cover

“Not sure what we would have done without it, we just can’t believe how fast it went down… Just beautiful.”

HOUSE 2 – TESS & LUKE

Tess & Luke chose ResortDeck high-performance decking boards in Sunset for both the walkway, which connects to the courtyard spiral
staircase and the rooftop entertaining bar and lounge space. The Sunset board is consistent with their dark contemporary vibe.
As with all the other rooftops, the surfaces were installed on Outdure’s QwickBuild aluminium framing system.

“With Outdure… we’re just flying through”

HOUSE 3 – DEB & ANDY

Deb & Andy created the perfect ‘sunset-viewing’ area by choosing a natural theme throughout, complemented by ResortDeck in Havana.

“The Outdure system is so so quick and fast and most importantly it’s versatile. Ideal for a homeowner if they want to do it themselves. Put down, click in and boom you done. The is system is so easy, I did it myself” – Andy”

HOUSE 4 – EL’ISE & MATT

El’ise and Matt pulled out all stops this week for their rooftop space, they combined multiple textures including custom art to create personality. With the help of the legendary Dave Franklin of Franklin Landscape & Designs, a combination of Stone Inspire tiles in River colour and ResortDeck Havana boards were selected to visually separate their firepit area and the outdoor kitchen. A curve was even crafted into the deck/tile layout for extra impact. Dave was very impressed with the natural look and feel of Outdure’s ResortDeck composite boards.

HOUSE 5 – JESSE & MEL ‘WINNERS’

Jesse and Mel achieved a light, modern feel with ResortDeck boards in Seasalt colour and Mineral Oasis tiles to define the dining and outdoor kitchen areas.

“The most incredible system I have ever used” – Jesse”
